Arrow Gallery, site-specific video installation The installation for Arrow Gallery in Athens, Georgia was created for a one-person exhibition that included a digital animation (One, 2002), a suite of prints, and the launch of mazamedia.com. An ink drawing on newsprint framed a video monitor on which the animation played continuously. The abstract typography in the drawing reappears on mazamedia.com as an animated title piece. One consists of hundreds of images of cars scanned from vintage postcards, placed sequentially to suggest the travel of a single car in a figure-eight path. The suite contains three states of a drypoint engraving that refer to the frames of the animation. On the last evening of the exhibition, the internationally renowned music group R.E.M. used One as a large-scale video projection during a concert at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, California. |
