Chewingum

Chewingum appears in a projected-video wrapper, chomping along to the tune of a looping Western medley. It is a revision of the Beuysian notion of "thought as sculpture" with a Wrigley's Plentipak (seventeen pieces of gum) as a sculptural element that is literally formed in the artist's head. The glob of chewed gum marks the site, becoming the background of a video projection that documents its consumption. The flavor is goofy but determined, a view of cultural production from the express checkout lane.
